Even at this most basic level, the opportunities created by mobile technologies (m-technologies) can significantly reduce our dependence on fixed locations for work and study. It is predicted that the second generation of m-technologies, based on better operating systems, personal area networks, and smaller, more powerful devices will revolutionise the way we work and play. In order to meet the challenges of a mobile society, the education and training sector requires a good understanding of where we are now, and where we might go, in order that their response can be strategic, cost effective and aligned with the emerging needs of society. This report provides an overview of the current and near-future use of mobile technologies in business and education. Paper link
