Kuala Lumpur -- A new mobile learning tool targeted at busy working executives and those who preferred information technology (IT) as the medium of learning will be made available locally next month.

Designed by Informatics, the Mobile Learner Programme will allow the learner to acquire knowledge and skills in their free time without the need to attend classes.

The programme will be launched on July 27 and the product will be available starting August 1 at the Informatics centres and selected bookstores.

"The course material is compressed into a Secure Digital card, which can be inserted into a MP4, personal digital assistant, Blackberry or laptop. This would allow the learner to listen to the lecturer or view the lecturer's notes regardless where they are," Informatics Malaysia's managing director Lawrence Wee told Bernama Wednesday.

He said once the learners have completed the courses or modules, they are eligible to sit for the necessary examinations at one of the Informatics centres.

Informatics has more than 400 centres in 23 countries, including Malaysia.
