BECTA looks at the rise of handheld learning devices in schools, and how they can add to the learning experience
Technology is playing an increasingly important role in people’s lives. Staying in touch with friends and family by email and arranging your life by SMS is fast becoming the norm. Similarly, technology is playing an increasingly important role in a learner’s life. Much is made of the playstation Nintendo generation of young people, but this may be misleading. Around the country various schools and other learning providers are working with mobile devices, from small compact PCs called Ultra Mobile Personal Computers to mobile phones and gaming consoles. Approaches range from purchasing large numbers of the same device, or increasingly, working with a learner’s own devices. Article link
