Portable courses allow deployed military to continue college studies
Most students who attend college nowadays know all about online courses. Anytime and almost anywhere, they can send assignments with a click of a mouse. But for thousands of soldiers serving overseas, Internet access is scarce. Men and women in the armed services might get only a few minutes a month online - if that's even available - because bandwidth is tied up in military operations. That's why the Army has tapped Florida Community College at Jacksonville to develop mobile courses for soldiers who don't have access to the Internet. FCCJ recently received a two-year, $1 million grant to design software for six courses that can be taken remotely. Story link
