Abilene Christian University is looking to expand its reach in mobile learning, seeking uses for Apple’s newest technological jewel, the iPad, as well as giving faculty opportunity to re-imagine courses for an increasingly mobile user base.

George Saltsman, executive director of the Adams Center for Teaching and Learning, said that society at all levels is embracing mobile technology, from smart phones to laptops, at a dizzying rate — and the school wants to understand what that means.

“ACU is taking a leadership role in understanding how mobility works in education and in society,” Saltsman said after a lunchtime meeting with the university’s faculty. “We know that we are becoming an increasingly mobile society.”
