After years of being told to put away their cell phones, students are increasingly turning them on in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky high schools.
Students can use them throughout the day at Wyoming, Fairfield and Highlands high schools but must have permission from a teacher to use them in the classroom, mostly for instructional purposes.
Finneytown students are allowed to use their cell phones at lunch. Otherwise, they must be turned off, unless a teacher allows their use in the classroom.
As a result, schools are finding they're spending less time being the cell phone police and are confiscating fewer phones.
